Holiday Season Trading Schedule

Ahead of the holiday season, we would like to inform you that the trading schedule for a number of instruments will change.

Please consider the risks.

During the holiday season, there may be changes in market conditions as to volatility and liquidity. Spreads are often much wider. Hence, please review your positions and margin requirements to ensure that you have sufficient free equity to cover a potential rise in margin requirements and adverse price movements. Kindly be advised that stop loss orders may not provide protection against adverse price movements in all circumstances. If you are uncertain, consider reducing or closing hedged positions and reassess the situation.

Also, please be aware that due to year-end market factors, you may observe significant moves in the swap costs for most FX pairs. These factors include financial institutions balancing their books before the end of the year, putting a strain on certain currencies.

Swap rates for FX pairs at year-end can be extremely volatile, resulting in daily swap adjustments being much higher than normal.

"Let’s Bot!” Workshops: Empowering our Traders in Colombia!

At the heart of Bogota, we organized an engaging workshop series titled “Let’s Bot! How to Create a Trading Robot from Scratch,” focusing on the popular topic of algorithmic trading and automation. Traders from across Colombia came together, eager to advance their knowledge and skillset.

Our market analyst, Julian Pineda, created a step-by-step guide on how to develop a trading robot according to participants’ personal trading style and objectives. Participants gained valuable insights into programming using MT5's powerful MQL5 language. They learned how to create scripts, indicators, expert advisors, and more. One of the main highlights of the workshops was the focus on automation. Participants got to learn how to streamline their trades and save precious time.

The overwhelming response from traders resulted in packed rooms for the duration of the series.  Participants had the opportunity to interact directly with our market expert, Julian, and the members of our LATAM team! They had their questions answered and connected with fellow traders. The event drew a diverse crowd, with participants travelling from various Colombian cities like Medellin, Pereira, and Ibague, exemplifying the workshops' widespread appeal and relevance.

Empowering Students for a Second Consecutive Year in Collaboration with the University of Cyprus

Tickmill continues its commitment to education by offering students the unique opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in the financial industry.

Our Quantitative Research Team took part once again in the ‘Capstone Project’ of the University of Cyprus, providing postgraduate students in Data Science with the chance to put their knowledge into practice and explore the ever-evolving world of trading and global financial markets. The Quantitative Team's core focus revolves around the analysis of unconventional data, identifying correlations, and gaining valuable insights to make informed investment decisions.

This year, three talented postgraduate students from the University of Cyprus partnered with our Quantitative Research Team to tackle challenging tasks involving data mining and analysis. The three students underwent a two-week training program focused on trading and the financial markets. They were then given the flexibility to use their preferred data analysis tools, empowering them to explore different types of data and conduct in-depth analyses to predict price changes in financial assets and identify valuable information while filtering out noise. The total duration of the project was 12 weeks, and the results will be included in the students’ theses.
